Charter College in Long Beach will discontinue its physical location beginning next year and primarily focus on online studies.

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 12.27.40 PMThe lease for the Long Beach campus, located at 100 West Broadway #3000, will expire in 2015, and the college decided to not renew due to a significant shift in enrollments to programs that are offered online, including medical assisting, dental assisting, vocational nursing and massage therapy.

According to Charter College spokeswoman Brandi Anderson, the campus discontinued enrollment of students in those programs on October 21 and all current Long Beach campus students are expected to graduate in August 2015, before the lease is up.

“All required classes for current students taking classes at the physical location will be delivered as scheduled at the physical location to ensure that all students have the opportunity to graduate on time,” Anderson said. “Current students and graduates of the Long Beach campus will continue to receive full student support, including graduate job placement services.”

Students can still enroll in online-only courses, she said. The only affected staff positions were those directly related to future enrollments in discontinued programs.

“We have been serving students in the Long Beach community since 2007 and are very proud of the Long Beach staff and faculty and the work they have done in changing the lives of countless students and their families. We value and will continue to appreciate their contributions and service to our students and the Long Beach employment community.”
