A California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) library professor was recently recognized with the Librarian Recognition Award by the Library Instruction Round Table of the American Library Association (ALA), CSULB officials announced.
Lesley Farmer’s worldwide contributions in support of information literacy and instruction will be honored Sunday, June 28, at the ALA annual conference in San Francisco, according to a press release.
She has presented and written dozens of articles, book chapters, and eight books dealing with information literacy, the release stated.
“I have worked for 20 years in the area of information literacy and instruction, especially with an eye on gendered issues, so it was such an honor to be recognized for this long-term effort,” said Farmer, who also serves as department chair for advanced studies in education and counseling and is the teacher librarian program coordinator.
The LIRT began in 1977 as a way to bring together librarians who provide library instruction across all types of libraries, including academic, public, school, and special libraries.
