Representatives of the Long Beach College Promise will be among those in attendance at the White House’s College Opportunity Day of Action this week.

Jane Close Conoley, president of Cal State Long Beach; Eloy Ortiz Oakley, president of Long Beach City College; and Christopher J. Steinhauser, superintendent of Long Beach Unified School District will join President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as other college representatives from across the country, at the annual summit, held Thursday in Washington, D.C.

The summit will focus on building sustainable communities that have strong K-12 and higher education partnerships to encourage students to go to college, especially those that are first-generation, low-income and underrepresented.
