They call it an “incubator” for local artisans, vendors, retailers and practically any other sort of Long Beach creative who has a product to offer—and MADE in Long Beach’s Holiday Popup Shop, the space’s first business endeavor, is officially open. With hanging bikes, banners featuring art by David Van Patten, and a plethora of pure Long Beach goodness, the store has a charm that is difficult to surpass should you venture to the dreaded mall.

“We’re basically a transition between, ‘Hey, I have a new idea,’ and, ‘I am going to open up a full retail concept,’” said founder DW Ferrell when opening the space. “As we know, a lotta people who go head-first into that, they fail. So how can we foster businesses at the stage when it’s most critical?”

From the Long Beach Creamery to Heartbreak Coffee, Porch Party Records to Sliced and Diced, this all-Long Beach holiday store offers gifts small and large. (Some of the furniture in there, including a weathered leather smoking chair, puts stars in our eyes.) Go local, shop local, be local.

Even better? Stop in today from 3PM to 7PM and watch the coffee mastery of popup coffee shop Wide Eyes Open Palms, the pair that has temporarily vacated their farmer’s market spot in favor of supporting MADE in Long Beach.
