A fight involving an unknown number of students at Cabrillo High School Wednesday morning resulted in a large police response at the school, where an investigation is still underway to determine how many students were involved.
Over a dozen Long Beach Police Department and LBUSD school safety officer vehicles sat outside Cabrillo High School Wednesday as family members parked and picked up students one-by-one. As officers and school administrators stood in the quad near the school’s main entrance shortly after noon, another small scuffle needed to be broken up.
LBUSD spokesperson Chris Eftychiou said that the fight started during lunchtime and multiple students were detained.

“No arrests were made, and no serious injuries occurred” Eftychiou said in an email. “An investigation is being conducted, and the involved students will face appropriate disciplinary consequences.”
LBPD officers responded to the campus around 11:20 a.m. to a report of a battery and found a fight that included “multiple students”, LBPD spokesperson Brandon Fahey said. While no one was arrested, Fahey said that Long Beach Fire Department personnel helped one male student who had minor injuries.
Another female student left in an ambulance with what appeared to be a leg injury but Eftychiou said that the student was not involved in the lunchtime fight and that she was being assisted because she was ill.
