In preparation of the one-year anniversary of the shooting death of Capt. David Rosa, the Long Beach Firefighters Association will be selling memorial shirts to raise money for signage of an Orange County highway that will be named in his honor.
Rosa was shot on June 25, 2018 while responding to a call for an explosion at a retirement home near Downtown Long Beach.
The entire Long Beach Fire Department will be wearing memorial shirts on the anniversary Rosa’s death.
The shirts are on sale to the public to “show solidarity for the loss of Captain Rosa, and gratitude and respect for the ultimate sacrifice he made,” fire engineer Nick Marantz said.
The signs will be placed on the 5 Freeway between Las Ramblas and the Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano, where Rosa lived.
The shirts are on sale for $15, but donations can also be made through the Long Beach Firefighters Memorial Association.
