It’s happened. Get ready to receive internet through a new service provider.

Long Beach residents receiving internet, video and FiOS services from Verizon officially made the switch over to the Frontier Communications Corporation platform today, Frontier officials announced.

Frontier detailed the completion of its $10.54 billion purchase of Verizon Communications, Inc.’s wireline operations that began back a year ago in a release, issued today.

The acquisition includes approximately 2.1 million broadband connections, 3.3 million voice connections and 1.2 million FiOS video subscribers, along with the related incumbent local exchange carrier businesses (ILEC), providing services to commercial, residential and wholesale customers in California, Texas and Florida, according to the release.

The changes, however, will not affect Long Beach residents receiving promotional pricing from Verizon or alter offered products and services.

“Customers in the Long Beach area will not experience changes to their service or billing due to Frontier’s acquisition,” said Cameron Christian, vice president of Marketing and Communications for West Region Frontier Communications. “Our customer’s experience is our top priority and we are working hard to make this transition seamless.”

To ensure a smooth transition, the new Frontier Communications customers will receive bills in April with instructions on the available payment options.

According to a release, 175 new jobs will be created in California as a result of the merger, along with the addition of nearly 5,000 former Verizon employees to the Frontier payroll.

“This is an exciting time for Frontier, and as always, we’re keeping the customer experience at the forefront,” said Melinda White, area president for Frontier’s West Region, which includes California, Oregon and Washington, in a statement. “We have been impressed by the level of support received from community leaders, elected officials and business owners.”

The acquisition has received regulatory clearance from the U.S. Department of Justice, the California Utilities Commission, the Federal Communications Commision and other public authorities.

Frontier Communications is the 4th largest telecommunications company in the U.S. delivering Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and FiOS high-speed internet, advanced voice services, video entertainment and Frontier Secure digital protection over fiber-optic and copper networks to 28 states, according to Christian.
