Long Beach police are searching for a dark-colored SUV believed to be involved in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night near Poly High School, which sent a four-year-old girl to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to East 17th Street and Alamitos Avenue at 8:27PM on Thursday, July 7 regarding the injury traffic collision, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said in an email.

Long Beach paramedics transported the victim, a four-year-old girl, in critical condition to a local hospital, according to Arrona.

The motorist involved in the crash fled the scene, she said.

Officials describe the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored SUV with possible front-end damage.

The investigation remains ongoing.
