A Huntington Beach police officer was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a crash involving a vehicle and the officer’s motorcycle, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to reports of an injury traffic accident on Bellflower Boulevard, south of Atherton Street, around 2:27 p.m. Wednesday. The HBPD motor officer sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The LBPD is advising that people avoid the area as the investigation is ongoing.
