In a sign of the times, thousands of families waited in long lines Saturday morning near Shoreline Village in Downtown Long Beach were approximately 2,000 meals were distributed to local families.

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Long Beach Unified School District and city volunteers packed the food boxes into the trunks of cars outside the Long Beach Convention Center.
