Long Beach Post readers had strong reactions to the news, exclusively reported by the Post Monday that Long Beach city officials have spoken with the Los Angeles Angels about relocating to the city.

The reaction was fairly split between welcoming the Halos and telling them politely to stick to their side of the Orange Curtain.

In a (highly unscientific) social media poll, the Post asked Long Beach residents what they thought of the prospect. As of this writing, with about 1,000 people voting, roughly 40 percent were in favor—citing the excitement of major league baseball and economic growth—and 60 percent were against the move—raising concerns of increased traffic and gentrification.

We heard a similar split and concerns when we talked to people in Downtown Long Beach.

And here‘s a sampling of what people told us over social media.
