fraud prevention

Long Beach residents are invited to attend a free Senior Fraud Prevention Town Hall next Monday in North Long Beach, featuring crime and scam experts, city officials announced.

The “Schemes, Scams & Rip-Offs” town hall—hosted by Assemblyman Mike Gipson, D-Carson, and Long Beach City Councilman Rex Richardson—will be held Monday, August 10, at Houghton Park Community Center, 6301 Myrtle Avenue, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM.

The event is meant to educate seniors, family members and concerned residents about scams targeting the vulnerable, according to officials.

Discussion topics include auto repair and sales rip-offs, Medicare scams, and financial fraud.

Attendees will be provided with tips, informational materials and resources on how to be protected. There will also be a giveaway of a document shredder to an audience member.

For more information or to RSVP, please call Gipson’s office at 310.223.1201 or email [email protected].
