A Long Beach woman was killed Sunday when an SUV she was driving collided with another vehicle and overturned on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Signal Hill.

Authorities identified the woman on Monday as 41-year-old Teresita Meza.

The crash happened at around 10:30AM on Sunday, March 6, north of Orange Avenue, and involved a 2003 GMC Envoy and a 2005 Chevrolet sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Arriving officers found Meza’s Envoy on its roof, with its occupants trapped inside. Long Beach firefighters extricated them from the wreckage and took them to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where Meza was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Lakewood resident Crystal Galves, 23, who suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.

Officials also stated that there were no signs that alcohol use was a factor in the collision.
