A 32-year-old resident of the city of Orange died from injuries sustained after he was struck by a car early Saturday morning while riding a scooter, authorities say.

Officers responded to the traffic collision in the area of Seventh Street and Ohio Avenue near Rose Park, at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, police said officers discovered a man in the roadway in need of medical attention. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police said a 2010 Ford Mustang, driven by a resident of Long Beach, was traveling westbound on Seventh Street when he struck the victim riding a VEO Electric Scooter in the roadway, according to police. The driver remained on scene and it was determined he was driving with an expired driver’s license, authorities said.

The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
