A man was arrested following a reported stabbing Saturday evening in the Hellman neighborhood, police said.

Officers arrived at the 1000 block of Dawson Avenue around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday and found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to his upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The victim was involved in an argument with another man, which then escalated to a stabbing, police said.

The suspect, Long Beach resident Brandon Khongsakhone, 18, was still at the scene when officers arrived and was arrested, according to the LBPD.

Khongsakhone was booked at the Long Beach City Jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and bail was set at $30,000, according to police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department, according to police.

Police did not release the identity of the victim.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
