Police are investigating an incident involving a man pistol-whipping a woman and firing a shot at a Wrigley area home on Sunday morning, Long Beach Police Department spokesman Brandon Fahey said. No one was shot.

At around 3:16 a.m., officers responded to the area of West 21st Street and Pacific Avenue where a woman said she was inside her residence with a relative when the man “broke into her residence and initiated an altercation involving all parties that escalated to a shooting,” Fahey said. The suspect fled the scene prior to before officers arrived

While no one was shot, during the dispute, the suspect pistol-whipped the victim’s upper body, Fahey said. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries, he said.

While the motive remains under investigation, detectives believe the suspect and victim are known to each other, Fahey said.
