UPDATE |  A middle-aged man is dead and his 24-year-old lover has been arrested for murder after a heated argument turned into a deadly fight Sunday night in Long Beach, according to officials with the Long Beach Police Department.

Authorities responded to the 3500 block of Faust Avenue on Sunday, December 6 at 11:50PM at which time paramedics pronounced Thomas Zunich, 45, dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, Zunich and the suspect, Timothy Hagler, who were in a relationship, became involved in a dispute at the home they shared, LBPD officials stated, and during a physical altercation the victim sustained severe head trauma.

Hagler was arrested at the scene and booked for murder. He is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1 million bail.

PREVIOUSLY: Man Found Dead at Long Beach Home, Autopsy Pending

12/7/15 at 5:22PM | A man was found dead at his Long Beach residence Sunday night, authorities said.

The man, in his 40s, died at his residence on the 3500 block of Faust Avenue at about 11:00PM Sunday, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.

An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death. 

No additional information was available at this time. The Post will update this story as we learn more.
