A man in his late 50s is in critical condition after he nearly drowned in a pool at a Long Beach motel Sunday, authorities said.
Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel responded to the City Center Motel, located at 255 Atlantic Avenue, at about 10:06AM to find a man at the bottom of the pool, said LBFD spokesperson Jake Heflin.
Witnesses had seen the man swimming and told firefighters that he had been in the water for about 15 minutes.
A firefighter jumped in the water and was able to pull the man out before performing CPR, Heflin said.
The man, who is in his late 50s, was transported to a local hospital for further treatment, and is currently listed in critical condition.
