In the early morning hours of a day meant to mark the nonviolent legacy and history of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a male was shot to death inside his residence, the second Long Beach murder in three days. 

Police say they responded to call of a downed person inside a residence near Gaviota Avenue and 10th Street at approximately 3:10AM Monday morning and discovered the victim inside his homewith a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

{loadposition murdermap}The victim’s age and name are not yet known as the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office continues the process of identifying the man. The investigation remains ongoing as there is no known suspect or motive.
