A man transported himself to a local hospital after being struck by gunfire in Central Long Beach Saturday night, according to Long Beach police.

The victim told police he was near the 900 block of 20th Street, near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, when he heard a loud noise and then realized that he had been shot, according to police. At around 11 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital and observed the victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, police said.

Officers responding to the area found bullet casings. They also found that several parked, unoccupied vehicles as well as residences were also struck by gunfire, according to police.

No other injuries were reported, police said. At this time, police do not have any suspect information or motive for the shooting.
