A man was transported to the hospital in stable condition after being shot in Central Long Beach early this morning.

Officers responded at about 12:10 a.m. this morning to a call about a shooting on W. 17th Street and Chestnut Avenue and found a man suffering from several gunshot wounds to the lower body. These wounds were not life-threatening, and Long Beach Police Department officers rendered aid to the victim until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition, police said. The victim was shot while riding his bike in the area by an unknown suspect, according to the preliminary investigation. No suspect information is known, and investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting at this time.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
