The Long Beach Fire Department transported a man in critical condition to a local hospital after someone stabbed him in Central Long Beach Saturday night, Long Beach police reported.
Police said officers were dispatched at around 9:55 p.m. to Gaviota Avenue near 14th Street after being called about the stabbing. Once there, they found the man with a wound to his upper body, police said.
Officers were unable to gather any statement from the victim and did not locate a crime scene in the area, police said. They are still investigating the incident.
Shooting near LA River
About an hour and a half later Saturday night, officers were also dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and the Los Angeles River after someone reported a shooting, according to police.
At around 11:40 p.m., officers arrived at the scene and discovered “evidence consistent with a shooting,” police said.
No injuries were reported, and there is no known suspect information, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
