1:42pm | Local residents and community members will be able to enjoy an afternoon of mini-golf, food and prizes at POWER 4 Youth’s 1st Annual Mini-Golf Tournament to be held on Monday, September 26.  Sponsors are also being sought for this unique event to benefit mentoring for at-risk teens in the Long Beach area.

POWER 4 Youth is a site-based program that matches caring adults to mentor youth with the goal of helping them to do better in school.  Volunteer mentors assist students in acquiring both social and study skills crucial to achieving success.

“We would like to match 50% more teens this year, and open new sites in areas currently underserved in the community,” explains Val Parker, Executive Director.  “A successful tournament will help POWER 4 Youth to serve more youth in the coming school year through its academic mentoring program.”

The tournament will be held at Boomers in Fountain Valley with at 4:00 shotgun start.  Teams of 4 will compete for the lowest golf score and other prizes, while POWER 4 Youth students assist in managing each hole. After the tournament, all participants will enjoy a dinner, award ceremony and silent auction.  For golfers, the cost is $60 and includes golf, dinner, awards and prizes.  Sponsorship levels begin at $150.
