Mexican nationals often have difficulties traveling to cities that house a Mexican consulate, an essential trip since key documents that make everyday living possible for immigrants can only be accessed at consulates in either Los Angeles or Calexico or Oxnard or…

Enter Consulado Móvil–a program introduced by Consul General of Mexico, Carlos Manuel Sada Solana–which creates a mobile consulate so that individuals are able to obtain important documents ranging from passports to consular ID cards. And with an estimated 4.3 Mexican nationals living in California, such programs are not only beneficial, but needed.

Pairing with 6th District Councilmember Dee Andrews, Solana is again bringing the Consulado Móvil to Long Beach.

“It is a great honor to partner with the City of Long Beach to serve the Mexican citizens,” Solana said in a press release. “The community program is a great asset that allows us to reach out to our constituents to render our services where they are based. This spares them the time and expense of traveling to our Los Angeles office.”

The event is open to the general public and free. The event, from 8AM to 2PM, will take place on Saturday, August 10th, at the McBride Teen Center, located at 1520 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.

All those attending for documents must make an appointment by calling 1-877 MEXITEL (639-4835). The following documents must be brought with you in order to process services: original birth certificate, an effective official identification with the name on the identification the same as it appears on the birth certificate, proof of address in Los Angeles County, and two passport photos with a white background.
