10:15am | A 14-year old male was shot and killed last night when someone standing outside a home in the 1600 block of E. 53rd Street opened fire on the residence in Long Beach.

Police are investigating the incident as gang-related, although the victim is not believed to have been affiliated with gangs. An adult male living at the residence does have gang ties, however, and police are investigating all motives to determine why that residence was targeted. It is not clear whether or not there were multiple shooters.

Authorities responded to the Shots Fired call around 9:00pm last night, and arrived to find the boy suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
