UPDATE 4:05PM  |  Service has been restored to all Southern California Edison (SCE) customers affected by a power outage in Long Beach today, according to an SCE spokesperson.

The power outage, which began around 5:24AM, ended at 2:19PM on Friday, December 25. The outage left over 400 SCE customers in the Drake Park neighborhood without power for much of Christmas Day. 

According to SCE, the outage was caused by overhead equipment failure.

Over 400 Southern California Edison (SCE) customers have been without power since at least 5:24AM Friday morning, putting a damper on many Long Beach residents’ Christmas day plans.

At the time of writing SCE estimates the outage, which appears to be centered around the Drake Park neighborhood, should be resolved by 5:00PM Friday.

Affected residents took to social media today to express their displeasure with the power company, as a year marked[1] by[2] several[3] major[4] power[5] outages[6] draws to a close.

A request for comment was not immediately returned by SCE. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
