A man was left unconscious after being hit by a car in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Police said the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. on Pacific Avenue near 19th Street.

Medics took the pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition, and the car’s driver stayed at the scene, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash, but investigators don’t think the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

Northbound Pacific was shut down while police investigated.
