A man has been seriously injured after walking into the roadway on Anaheim Street in West Long Beach Tuesday night, police said.

Few details were available, but police were called to the area of Anaheim Street and Hayes Avenue at about 7:25 p.m. regarding the collision, police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.

Police said a woman was driving eastbound on Anaheim Street when the pedestrian, a man, walked into the roadway.

“The driver attempted to stop but struck the pedestrian,” Gallagher said.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police while paramedics took the victim to a local hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.
