6:00pm | Yesterday, at approximately 8:14pm, Long Beach Police responded to the J.H. Davies Bridge, located on East 2nd Street, west of Pacific Coast Highway, regarding an injury traffic collision between a pedestrian and a bus; it resulted in the death of the adult male pedestrian. 

The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian, identified as 56-year-old John Edward Boulger of Long Beach, was walking westbound on the north side of the bridge’s sidewalk, just east of Appian Way. As the passenger bus travelled westbound over the bridge in the number two lane, the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by the right front area of the passenger bus. 

The pedestrian was determined deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision and the investigation into the cause of the collision and the pedestrian’s actions remains ongoing.
