Police arrested a 16-year-old boy who they believe is the last identified suspect in the May attack on a special-ed Poly student that sparked parent protests.

He was arrested in Torrance on Tuesday, but the boy is from Long Beach, police said. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a felony street gang and is currently being held juvenile hall.

The attack was caught on camera and posted on social media, drawing concern from parents. The victim, a student at Poly Academy of Achievers and Leaders, was punched and kicked after he ran from a group of teens who confronted him, the boy’s mother said.

Police arrested three others, including two underage boys and one 18-year-old man, a week after the May 15 attack.

Bryan Blancas, the 18-year-old, later pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily harm, two counts of violation of civil rights, one count of dissuading a witness by force or threat and one count of battery. Police generally do not identify minors.
