Authorities this morning said they found a man who’d run away from the staff of a care facility while on a walk in Long Beach in May.

Detectives located Shawn Tischler in Sylmar, police said. Those close to Tischler said it was his family and friends who found him with help from social media and community volunteers.

“Tischler is in the process of being reunited with his family,” the department said in a news release.
