Police responded to reports of a man wielding a machete near Woodruff Avenue and Mezzanine Way in East Long Beach Sunday afternoon.

A man carrying a machete sheath was detained by police at about 12:30 p.m. He was subsequently released as police say they had no evidence of a crime.
