Long Beach police are investigating a homicide that occurred near the Los Angeles River and the 405 Freeway Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to assist the fire department at 2:25 p.m., LBPD spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said. Homicide detectives are on the scene.
