Shortly following Councilmember Gary DeLong’s endorsment of Damon Dunn, current Vice Mayor and mayoral hopeful Robert Garcia was endorsed by Assemblymember and his former competitor in the mayoral race, Bonnie Lowenthal.

Lowenthal, who placed shortly behind Dunn in the April primary, touted Garcia’s commitment to progressive policies and adoration of and for Long Beach.

“I’m proud to endorse Vice Mayor Robert Garcia for Mayor,” Lowenthal said in a statement. “Robert is committed to fight for and advance the progressive issues important to our community that I have fought for throughout my career. He is passionate about our city, and strongly committed to meeting our economic challenges, advocating on behalf of working people, the disenfranchised and the environment. I look forward to partnering with him to make our city the best it can possibly be.”

Garcia’s campaign now has the support of entire Congressional and State Assembly delegations that are home to Long Beach.

“Bonnie Lowenthal has dedicated her career to representing and standing up for Long Beach,” Garcia said. “I’m honored to have her support, and I am looking forward to working with her as we continue to build our transportation infrastructure and green the port.”
