An Orange County real estate executive who has lived in the Belmont Shore-Naples area for decades is the second candidate to file to run for the city council seat in the 3rd District.

Jack Rosenberg, Vice President of Cresa Orange County, announced earlier this week his intentions to parlay his years of business experience and community engagement into the 3rd District seat, which will be vacated by termed-out councilmember Gary Delong.

jackrosenberg“I have had the interest for quite awhile and with Gary Delong terming out it became something I really wanted to do,” Rosenberg told the Post. “I have the time, the interest and the background to represent the 3rd District and the City of Long Beach.”

In addition to his real estate career, Rosenberg is active in several community organizations such as the Long Beach Century Club, Long Beach Community Development Advisory Commission, Operation Jump Start, Long Beach Rotary and the Long Beach Golf Commission. He was also the Los Angeles Board President for the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks.

Rosenberg’s main concerns lie with the city’s budget and generating more revenue for future years.

“We need to manage our budget going forward making sure we live within our means along with finding ways to increase revenue. The main way to increase revenue is to bring additional jobs and business to Long Beach,” he said. “We have a number of flash points in the 3rd District which will require leadership and understanding. With my skill set and background I feel I am best qualified for that job.”

Also vying for the 3rd District council seat is Martha Flores-Gibson, an educator and lifelong Long Beach resident who ran against incumbent Bonnie Lowenthal last year in the 70th Assembly District. Flores-Gibson is running on a “community first” platform of public safety and constituent needs.
