Signal Hill Vice Mayor Ed Wilson has officially tossed his hat into the ring as a candidate for the 70th State Assembly seat, joining current 4th District Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell and former 7th District Councilmember Tonia Reyes Uranga.
Wilson has served on the Signal Hill City Council since 1997 and also served as mayor three times. According to his campaign website, Wilson describes himself as one with an “entrepreneurial spirit and prudent fiscal management” even in the “face of the uncertain economic environment.”
The new 70th Assembly District–redrawn and approved on July 29 of last year–captures most of Long Beach and San Pedro with the island of Catalina as well as slivers of Wilmington and Harbor City. Former 1st District Councilmember Bonnie Lowenthal won her third and final term in the district after beating Martha Flores-Gibson last November.
