Southern California Edison is reporting power outages affecting nearly 1,000 customers in the Bixby Knolls area this afternoon.

As of 12:04 p.m., SCE it is still investigating the cause of an outage in the area of Cartagena Drive between California and and Orange avenues that is affecting 879 customers north and west of Carson Street and east and west of Orange Avenue, said SCE spokesman David Song. Another nearby outage near Atlantic Avenue and Roosevelt Road is affecting another 87 customers.

Song said that these two outages are connected.

For now, crews are trying to reroute power from another area as means to “reduce the footprint of the outage” onto customers and bring electricity to them until the repairs are complete, Song said.

Song said it is not clear when the power will be restored.
