The Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) successfully extinguished a North Long Beach apartment fire Tuesday night.

Shortly after midnight on December 11, LBFD received calls concerning a fire near the 2600 block of 56th Way, slightly southwest of Paramount Blvd. and South Street. When firefighters arrived, a second story unit within an apartment building had its kitchen on fire.

No serious injuries were reported besides a female resident who was treated and released at the scene for an asthma attack. The apartment was declared uninhabitable and family is currently under the assistance of the Red Cross.
