The driver of a semi-truck who may have been in a medical emergency when he crashed in Long Beach Friday morning was pronounced dead at a local hospital later in the day, authorities said.

The 33-year old man, identified only as a Compton resident, was driving a semi-truck when he was involved in a single vehicle crash on the 5900 block of Waterfront Place at 10:25AM, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

When an officer arrived at the scene, he noticed the driver was in a possible medical emergency and immediately called for a response from the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD). When fire personnel arrived, they began administering medical aid and subsequently transported the man to a local hospital.
