Another suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the August shooting death of a 48-year-old man in North Long Beach’s College Park neighborhood, police said.

Lee Edward Mooring Jr., a 37-year-old Long Beach resident, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder after detectives identified him as a suspect and located him near the 2000 block of Cedar Avenue. His bail was set at $2 million.

Just before midnight on Aug. 21, Kacy Lloyd was standing next to his parked car in the 6700 block of Harbor Avenue in North Long Beach when he was approached by a gunman who fired several shots that struck him in the upper. Lloyd died at the scene.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined, although they previously said it may have been gang-related.

Police eventually identified 27-year-old Daven Trotter as a suspect in the shooting, and in November, he was taken into custody on suspicion of murder at his apartment near Houghton Park.

He has since pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and remains in custody in lieu of $3 million bail.

A woman, whose booking records showed she lived with Trotter, was also arrested and booked for one count of accessory to murder, although she was later released and her arrest was filed as having only been detained.

Detectives will present the case against Mooring to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, police said.
