“It doesn’t feel real. My brother was murdered in front of his 7-year-old son,” Shalia Maseuli said. “We want answers. We want to know who did this to my brother and why.”
“To commit such a heinous crime in any circumstance is unacceptable, but to do so on Father’s Day in front of the victim’s child is even more disgraceful,” LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish said.
Police said the man was found mortally wounded in a car on Anaheim Street at Roswell Avenue, which is a couple of blocks west of Ximeno Avenue.
The shooting was reported just before midnight in a mobile home park on Artesia Boulevard just east of Lakewood Boulevard.
Juan Ochoa Rodriguez, 74, was identified as the victim in the April 25 strangling that also left his wife critically injured on a sidewalk, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
A Wilson High School senior accused of participating in the robbery was killed in the shootout. Authorities say his alleged co-conspirators will face murder charges.
One of the suspected robbers has been charged with the death of 18-year-old Justin Culberson, who is accused of participating in the crime, which resulted in a shoot-out with a security guard, according to authorities.
Investigators said they believed the killing stemmed from a robbery gone bad.
“He will be missed by many,” said the man’s sister, who asked not to be named, fearing for her safety. He leaves behind three daughters, she said.
County authorities identified Justin Morris, 27, as the victim of the fatal shooting that took place in a beach parking lot near Rosie’s Dog Beach.
