Friends of Long Beach Animals (FOLBA), Long Beach’s most venerable animal-welfare organization, was happy to receive a whole lotta love on Tuesday, April 27, when Timmons Subaru presented them with a check for $37,447.40.
Sadie, now 13, disappeared in May 2010. On Tuesday, she turned up at the Long Beach Animal Shelter.
Dog owners in Long Beach will soon be required to spay or neuter their pets after the City Council authorized the city manager and city attorney to draft an ordinance making it illegal to own unaltered dogs. A second aspect of the law would prohibit the sale of dogs, cats or rabbits in Long Beach pet stores unless they were acquired from a shelter or bred by an authorized breeder.
Following a controversial back-and-forth between supporters and dissenters, the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation Commission last week unanimously approved citing a fenced-in, 1.5 acre off-leash dog park in the southeast corner of the El Dorado Regional Park.
