Local nonprofits, city organizations and community activists are hosting various food and toy giveaways in Long Beach starting Thursday, throughout the weekend and early next week.
On Sunday, Corona said he and local partners and sponsors gave out bags and boxes of items including food, diapers, snacks and, of course, toys to 360 families, including 900 children in those families.
The long-running Santa Visit & Toy Drive held at McBride Park Sunday afternoon was hosted by the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
“You look like a Santa who lives around here,” the boy said. “You must be the Hood Santa.”
World Famous VIP Records will hold its second annual VIP Toy Giveaway this Saturday at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library in Long Beach benefiting foster children.
