November 11, 1:25pm | Yesterday, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) served search warrants in two cities that resulted in the arrest of six suspects and the confiscation of a variety of evidence.

On October 2, 2011, at approximately 1:08 a.m., Long Beach officers responded to a restaurant in the 100 block of Marina Drive regarding an adult male and adult female who were victims of a shooting.  The investigation revealed that the 31-year-old male victim had been standing out in front of the restaurant when he was approached by a group of male gang members.  Words were exchanged and the incident escalated into a physical altercation. At that time, a subject within the group produced a handgun and fired at the victim, striking him in the upper body.  A 31-year-old female who was in the area was also struck by gunfire in the lower body.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The group of suspects fled the area and remained outstanding. The shooting was assigned to the Gang Enforcement Section and the investigation continued.

Today, during the early morning hours, Long Beach Police detectives served a total of six search warrants in relation to this investigation, and took five male and one female suspect into custody, which ranged in age from late teens to early 20s.  Five of those warrants were served in the City of Long Beach and the other in the City of Carson.  The suspects were booked on a variety of charges including attempted murder, aiding and abetting, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana for sales, cultivation of marijuana, and gang member in possession of a firearm.  Evidence was also confiscated that included two handguns, electronic equipment, a large quantity of marijuana, currency, and gang paraphernalia, as well as the impounding of two vehicles.
