12:00PM | The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) have confirmed through their investigation that the death of 56-year-old Long Beach resident Ronnie Wayne Singleton occurred while he was attempting to cross Pacific and 29th at a diagonal, from the northwest corner to the southeast corner.

The intersection has no marked crosswalk, permitting Singleton to cross legally as he did. As Singelton was crossing, he was struck by a 2005 Infinity FX35 that was driven by a 42-year-old Long Beach resident. According to the LBPD, the driver immediately contacted authorities in an attempt to provide aid to the victim.

LBPD released the driver at the scene but states that the investigation is ongoing.

10:00AM | An unidentified man was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 29th Street this past Monday.

This follows the death of 72-year-old Bong Kim, who was killed by an oncoming car while attempting to cross Alamitos in his wheelchair last October.

According to Officer Marlene Arrona, Long Beach Police officers responded to a call on January 27 near 6:30PM regarding a traffic collision near Veterans Memorial Park. The wheelchair-bound man was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver had remained at the scene the entire time.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing with the involvement of Collision Investigation Detectives. More information will be provided as it comes.
