Long Beach police met a woman at a local hospital after she was shot along the southern border of the Washington neighborhood at around midnight Sunday, according to authorities.
Police said the woman received a non-life-threating gunshot wound to her lower body and was reportedly shot in the area of Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street. Upon meeting her at the hospital, police added that the victim was also under the influence of an unknown substance.
Officers canvassed the area but were unable to find a crime scene, they said. The preliminary investigation suggests that the woman was shot by an unknown suspect at an unknown location and the motive for the shooting is unknown, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
