MEN’S GOLF: Vikings Finish Third at Regionals to Qualify for State Championships

The Long Beach City College men’s golf team shot a two-round 770 to finish in third place out of 10 teams at the 2011 Southern California Regional Championships on Monday at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club. With their top-four finish, the Vikings automatically qualify for next week’s State Championships.

Dirtbags Drop High-scoring Affair at No.6 Arizona State 17-9

The Dirtbags were swept in a series for the first time all season, as Long Beach State lost an early lead to Arizona State and ultimately fell 17-9 on Sunday afternoon. Brennan Metzger was 4-for-4 with a triple on Sunday.

Johnson Leads Dirtbags Past San Diego State in 12 Innings

It wasn’t always pretty. Instead, it was grind-it-out, pitch-by-pitch baseball as the Dirtbags improved to 5-0 in an extra innings game Tuesday, beating San Diego State 7-6 in 12 innings. Matt Johnson earned the win, striking out six over the final three innings for Long Beach State.
