Republishing our work
The mission of the Long Beach Journalism Initiative is to educate the public and hold power to account by providing timely, accurate news coverage. Our publications include the Long Beach Post and Long Beach Business Journal. As a newly established nonprofit organization, we want our reporting to reach as many readers as possible.
To the extent possible, we also strive to strengthen the larger media ecosystem by making some of our content available to other outlets for republishing. Stories that are labeled “This content is available for republishing” can be republished, as long as you abide by the following terms:
- Cite the Long Beach Post or Long Beach Business Journal as the original source. At the beginning of the story, include a byline credit and a line that reads, “This article was originally published by the Long Beach Post (or Long Beach Business Journal), a nonprofit news organization.” The link should direct to our homepages, lbpost.com or lbbusinessjournal.com.
- Do not change the original language in our stories, except to reflect references to time, location or editorial style. If you publish our story online, include all of the story’s links, including links to our newsletters and any other calls-to-action.
- Photos that accompany the stories are available to republish as well. Photos from other media organizations, such as Getty Images or the Associated Press, require separate permissions from those organizations directly. If you would like to print-quality photos or illustrations credited to the Long Beach Post or Long Beach Business Journal, please contact Visuals Editor Thomas Cordova, [email protected].
- You may republish other material, such as data graphics, video and audio that accompany these stories. They may only be used with the stories in which they were originally published.
- Notify us via email at [email protected] that you have republished a story, and if possible, send us page view data for the story or video. We will use this only for grant reporting purposes, not public dissemination.
- Unless explicitly stated, our organization is not responsible for content found on blogs, platforms, or websites that reblog or repost content by us.
- Please feel free to share our content on social media. Tag us when sharing our stories on your social channels. We are @longbeachpost on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
- Do not translate our stories into another language without our permission.
- Advertisements you’ve already sold may accompany our stories on your site, but do not sell ads against our stories or on behalf of the Post or Business Journal.
- Do not ask for donations on behalf of our organization or imply that donations to your organization support this organization.
- Do not sell or syndicate our content. This includes publishing or syndicating our work on platforms such as Apple News.
- Be judicious in your use of our work. You may not engage in the wholesale republication of our work, but rather must select only stories that are labeled for republication.
- You can’t use our material to populate a website designed to improve rankings on search engines or solely to gain revenue from network-based advertisements.
