Residents Calls For Shorter Path to Zero Emissions as Ports Finalize Clean Air Action Plan

A capacity crowd packed the Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington Wednesday evening in the heart of the port complex shared by Los Angeles and Long Beach to hear updates to the Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) released last fall with residents from all around the region pressing the ports to implement changes sooner than the 2035 target date.

 

Demanding Employee Status, Wage-Theft Protection, Truck Drivers’ Protest Continues at Port Complex

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and union leaders joined port truck drivers in San Pedro Thursday morning as the fourth day of strikes slogged on at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with port truck drivers demanding equal pay from short-haul trucking companies as well as legislation that would put an end to wage theft and misclassification.
