Asia Morris was given her name because her parents wanted her to be a world traveler. She has obliged by pursuing art, journalism and a second career as a competitive cyclist, racing in such cities as Seoul, Barcelona, London, Milan and Brooklyn. Morris has worked at the Long Beach Post for five years, concentrating on the arts. After her Long Beach schooling at Lowell, Rogers and Wilson, she graduated from Scripps College in Claremont. Her parents were both educators in Long Beach—her art genes come from her dad who is an artist and taught art at Millikan High School. Her mom owned the children’s book store Once Upon a Story in Belmont Heights. Morris lives in Alamitos Beach where she paints and draws. She has two cats, Shadow (the black one) and Orbit.
